Wild Wonderful: Guided Interpretive Walk

September 14 | 9am-10:30am | High Plains Environmental Center | 2698 Bluestem Willow Drive  

High Plains Environmental Center features an urban environmental park comprised of 76 acres of land and 3 miles of trails that surround two lakes covering an additional 200 acres.   

Take advantage during their Guided Interpretive Walk to meet this amazing organization largely responsible for Centerra’s Certified Wild accreditation. This fun and casual interpretive walk around Houts Reservoir and Equalizer Lake is guided by our Ecological Restoration crew, who are also Certified Interpretive Trail Guides! 

Learn about the restoration work that has been accomplished, the wildlife that lives here, and HPEC’s role of ongoing stewardship to preserve our wildlife habitat. 

Wander the demonstration gardens that showcase over 80 native plants species, habitat restoration, and water conservation.  The HPEC nursery and greenhouses produce native plants which are available to the public through their ongoing plant sales, special savings will apply over the weekend only!  

What might you see? Native wildflowers, shrubs and grasses, butterflies, native bees, dragonflies and damselflies, songbirds, raptors, waterfowl and the occasional jumping fish! 

Please bring a water bottle, hat, binoculars and sunscreen.

Centerra invites the community to get ready for Wild Wonderful Weekend, the weekend-long celebration of Colorado’s first Certified Wild Community – the Centerra master-planned community in Loveland.   

Celebrate with three-days of all things wild, wonderful and delicious. With family-friendly activities that will engage your imagination, tickle your taste buds and give you the chance to enjoy the parks, trails, gardens and orchards of Centerra with friends and neighbors.
