Wild Wonderful Weekend: Wild Nature Walks
High Plains Environmental Center is hosting a magical Garden Tour and Open House located at their environmental center as well as an enchanted garden tour located at Chapungu Sculpture Park.
High Plains Environmental Center (HPEC) is located at 2698 Bluestem Willow Drive features an urban environmental park comprised of 76 acres of land and 3 miles of trails that surround two lakes covering an additional 200 acres.
Take advantage during their Wild Nature Walks to meet this amazing organization largely responsible for Centerra’s Certified Wild accreditation. During the Walks, HPEC director, Jim Tolstrup will lead educational garden tours highlighting the wildlife habitat enhancement, and water-saving benefits of gardening with native plants.
Wander the demonstration gardens that showcase over 80 native plants species, habitat restoration, and water conservation. The HPEC nursery and greenhouses produce native plants which are available to the public through their ongoing plant sales, special savings will apply over the weekend only! Learn about the restoration work that has been accomplished, the wildlife that lives here, and HPEC’s role of ongoing stewardship to preserve our wildlife habitat. What might you see? Native wildflowers, shrubs and grasses, butterflies, native bees, dragonflies and damselflies, songbirds, raptors, waterfowl and the occasional jumping fish!
High Plains Environmental Center is also hosting Chapungu garden tours. This tour will start at 9am on Saturday, September 16. Meet a High Plains Environmental Center tour guide at the restrooms by entry point 5 of Chapungu at 6105 Sky Pond Drive for a whimsical and informational garden stroll.
Centerra Engagement Assembly invites the community to the 3rd Annual Wild Wonderful Weekend, September 15 -17 at Centerra in Loveland, Colorado located at I-25 and U.S. Highway 34. This series of events is open to the public and celebrates Colorado’s first Certified Wild Community – Centerra.
