The Lakes at Centerras Lake Club Honored with NAHB Recognition

McWHINNEY, the master developer of Centerra and The Lakes at Centerra, along with its architect and design partner DTJ DESIGN (DTJ) based in Boulder, is pleased to announce that the Lake Club at The Lakes at Centerra recently won the Platinum Award for Community Facility from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Best in American Living Awards, presented at the International Builders Show in Orlando. Platinum is the highest level awarded in the category, meaning that of the Community Facilities submitted from around the U.S. this year, the Lake Club is considered the best in the country. Additionally, the Lake Club won Best in Mountain Region, made up of Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.

The Lake Club is a 3,000 SF community facility located at the heart of The Lakes at Centerra, serving as a centerpiece within the lifestyle community and a social gathering place for residents to unwind. It overlooks Houts Reservoir and is adjacent to the pool, outdoor trail system, Frank Farm Park and High Plains Environmental Center. A beautiful double-sided fireplace, patio seating, outdoor fire pit, western red cedar trellises, barbecue and demonstration kitchen provide residents the perfect place to entertain and visit with neighbors.

DTJ incorporated an exposed timber trussed roof structure crafted from select Douglas Fir timbers sourced in the Pacific Northwest and skinned with tongue and groove decking, into the spacious design of the clubhouse. The large picturesque windows provide inspiring lake and mountain views which overlook a naturally preserved trail corridor, community dock and wetland area where natural habitat can regularly be spotted. The double-sided fireplace serves as the focal point of the room and the portable furniture can be rearranged for any event, seating up to 50 guests with gathering space for many more. Warm bursts of orange and yellow colors fill the walls and compliment the crisp white demonstration kitchen.

“We’re thrilled with the recognition from NAHB,” said David Williams of DTJ. “To know that your work is considered the best of its kind in the country is a great honor.”

“This award confirms what everyone involved with the Lake Club already knew,” said Kim Perry, Vice President of Community Design and Neighborhood Development for McWHINNEY. “That this facility is a unique and valuable centerpiece to our vibrant and growing residential community.”

This news comes as Phase II of The Lakes at Centerra continues to progress. With prices ranging from the high $200s to $600,000, an additional 94 single-family homes from Tri Pointe Homes and Village Homes, townhomes from Landmark Homes, patio homes and cottages from Boulder Creek Neighborhoods, and luxury single-family and patio homes from Wonderland Homes will be available starting this year. Life is different at The Lakes at Centerra. It offers state-of-the art amenities, community activities and natural escapes. Everything at The Lakes at Centerra complements the natural beauty of the lakes and the spectacular mountain backdrops. It’s both town and country, urban and natural, all in the middle of somewhere special.

Residents at The Lakes at Centerra are within walking distance to the brand new Pre-k through 8th grade High Plains STEAM school, which opened in 2016, another amenity that adds to the many unique advantages of life at The Lakes at Centerra.
