Volunteer in natural areas in Loveland

The Loveland CO parks give so much to the local community. It’s about more than simply hiking near Loveland CO and taking in the scenery. Loveland Colorado parks are a valuable part of the community that teach us about the natural wonders that surround the city, they provide a place for people to congregate, a way to stay physically fit and active, free access to facilities and more.

Many locals want to know how they can go from Loveland pass hiking to helping preserve and maintain the city’s parks. There are numerous volunteer opportunities available, but one of the most rewarding options for physically fit outdoor enthusiasts is being a trail host.

Becoming a Volunteer Trail Host at Loveland CO Parks

Joining the volunteer trail hosts is fun, gratifying and easy. As long as you can handle a 1-mile hike you can begin the training program. No prior knowledge of Colorado’s natural history is needed, because the 2-hour training session will provide you with everything you need to know about being a trail host.

The training session will cover:

  • What is expected of trail hosts
  • How to interact with visitors
  • The park regulations
  • Information about the area’s natural history
  • The Authority of the Resource Technique (ART) which is used to encourage regulation compliance
  • How to use contact sheets
  • How to use computer entries to report information

While there is a flexible year-round schedule for volunteering, the parks department asks that trail hosts volunteer 2 hours per week at either the River’s Edge Natural Area or the Meadowbrook Natural Area.
