High Plains School in Loveland, Colorado is an early childhood Pre-K through 8th grade school designed to help students and families learn and grow together.

High Plains School features a unique STEAM curriculum, which incorporates a range of concepts including science, technology, engineering, art and math. Through STEAM curriculum, students are to challenged to apply their knowledge to real-life situations. The carefully thought out program works to develop critical thinking skills, local and global awareness, communication and collaborative skills through problem-based learning (PBL). Through the PBL program, students are able to interact extensively with community members employed in a wide variety of Loveland, Colorado jobs to solve current problems the community is facing, putting their education into action. High Plains School is located in the middle of The Lakes at Centerra community, providing easy access to the High Plains Environmental Center (HPEC), the Lake Club and all of the new homes in Loveland, Colorado. This convenient location allows students to safely walk or bike on the routes to and from school, putting parents’ minds at ease. The High Plains School curriculum supports students, families and the community though ongoing collaboration and the development of long-term relationships through perseverance, responsibility and citizenship. Not only are students learning and growing, the community as a whole is also strengthened through High Plains School and their staff.

One of the best features of life at The Lakes at Centerra is the opportunity for the residents to easily connect with nature. The High Plains School also benefits from this perk. Not only does the school’s design have a focus on bringing the outdoors inside with expansive windows and lots of natural light, but it also provides ample opportunity for students to get involved with sustainability. The school has two gardens where students can learn about how food is grown and they can even harvest the food for the cafeteria, expanding their knowledge on where food comes from and how important it is to take care of the environment. Students also learn to give back to their community through the school’s donation program with the Larimer Food Bank.
