#1 Colorado State University

CSU is the top employer in the region with 7,945 employees working on or near the college campus every day. #2 University of Colorado Health – Medical Center of the Rockies & Poudre Valley Hospital Banner Health and Kaiser Permanente

Health care is one of the fastest growing industries in the country, and that’s no exception along the front range. University of Colorado Health – Medical Center of the Rockies (MCR) was built at Centerra in Loveland in 2006 and now employs thousands of medical professionals in a wide variety of fields. The region’s only Level I trauma center features 166 beds, two intensive care units, a birthing center and specializes in trauma and heart health care. In 2013, MCR joined University of Colorado Health, one of the state’s largest health care networks.

Banner Health and Kaiser Permanente serve as other large health care employers in Loveland and Fort Collins adding to the region’s robust medical presence.

 

#3 Energy Development, High Tech, Agritech, and Manufacturing

Colorado is known for its balanced energy approach and commitment to clean energy, the Northern Colorado region ranks fourth in fossil fuels and sixth for clean tech employment concentration in the state including Vestas Wind Systems, Anadarko, and Noble Energy. In the high tech sector, Northern Colorado is a hotbed for startup activity with Ft. Collins ranked second in the state after Boulder. Major tech employers are Advanced Energy, Agilent, Avago, and LSI. Agritech businesses are closely connected to the internationally recognized Colorado State University programs and include Crop Production Services, JBS, and Leprino Foods. The region’s diverse economy is also home to Fortune 500 companies in the engineering/manufacturing sector with world headquarters for Woodward and Otterbox.

 

#4 Thompson R2J and Poudre School Districts

The 19 elementary schools and 9 secondary schools of the Loveland Thompson R2J School District needs over 2,000 full and part-time employees to maintain a quality district curriculum. With over 15,000 students enrolled in the district, high quality, competitive candidates and support services are needed.

The Ft Collins Poudre School District employees 3,325 educational professionals in its elementary and secondary schools.

 

#5 – City Governments

The City of Loveland and the City of Ft Collins are two of the largest employment sources in Northern Colorado. The City of Loveland alone employees up to 1,000 people.
